Job Opportunity: Underwriter - Cyber Risks

We are seeking a skilled Underwriter in Cyber Risks for our client, an esteemed international insurance group. This role involves underwriting a Cyber Risk account within the International Cyber team and providing valuable counsel on underwriting and market issues. The successful candidate will contribute technical expertise to enhance the company's market reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting

  • Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio of Cyber Risks business as part of the Cyber Risks team.
  • Structure customized solutions by adhering to team underwriting parameters and policies, leveraging underwriting knowledge to attract new business and retain existing clients.
  • Manage the innovation and development of non-insurance service offerings for insureds and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor premiums, costs, and claims ratios per contract, implementing corrective measures as needed to ensure long-term profitability at the account level.
  • Evaluate appropriate risk premiums considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, capital exposure, and general administration costs to ensure profitability using applicable rating models.
  • Oversee peer underwriters to ensure profitability and efficient administration of the Cyber Risks account.
  • Supervise assistants to ensure compliance with underwriting philosophy and policy, promoting consistency within the team.
  • Adhere to the company's underwriting control standards for business written through Lloyd's, international subsidiaries, or internal MGAs.
  • Foster a strong working relationship with claims managers in this class of business.

Client Management

  • Advise and service clients on insurance and risk matters to ensure high satisfaction levels.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with clients to understand their needs and align them with the company’s offerings.
  • Maintain strong business relationships with brokers.
  • Stay aware of the overall product range and identify opportunities to introduce additional products to clients.

General Responsibilities

  • Utilize networking opportunities to develop standardized underwriting policies and best practices within the company.
  • Promote the dissemination of business and class knowledge within the International Cyber Risks teams.
  • Collaborate with peers within International Cyber Risks to maximize business opportunities and profitability, including sharing market insights and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Gather and share knowledge within the Group to ensure best practices and maximize profitability.
  • Create presentations and marketing materials as required.
  • Produce business plans and research documents for the Cyber Risks account as necessary.

Knowledge and Experience

  • General commercial and financial knowledge.
  • Experience in the insurance industry, specifically in Cyber underwriting or broking.
