Role Overview
In this role, you will report to the Global Category Manager for Iron Casting, based in Baden, Switzerland. Your focus will be on managing technical and quality aspects of supplier relations, ensuring that our quality standards are met and continuously improved.
Your Responsibilities
- Main interface to suppliers on technical and quality aspects; liaise with procurement and quality management regarding supplier quality topics.
- Supplier Qualification: Assess suppliers' sand-casting and machining capabilities, and audit their quality management systems and processes.
- Product and Process Qualification/Optimization: Lead cross-functional teams to perform Product and Process Qualification/Optimization (PPQ) for sand-cast components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with applicable drawings, process descriptions, and standards. Provide technical support to suppliers to meet Accelleron Switzerland's technical and quality requirements.
- Approve supplier casting processes through submitted Manufacturing Quality Control Plans and FMEAs.
- Supplier Development: Regularly analyze supplier quality performance, initiate and implement quality improvement programs, conduct quality root cause analysis, and define risk mitigation measures.
- Participate in internal quality meetings, performing qualitative analysis of delivered sand casting parts and defining measures for sustainable improvements.
Your Background
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in sand casting, foundry engineering, or material engineering.
- Fluent in German and English.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Casting Expert, Manufacturing Engineer, and/or Supplier Quality Engineer with expertise in sand casting and machining.
- Experience in qualifying and developing suppliers for sand-casted parts for Turbochargers using the Product and Process Qualification process equivalent to PPAP.
- Strong command of quality tools such as SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP, and PPAP; Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification is preferred.
- Auditor certification according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or IATF 16949 is a plus.
- Knowledge of problem-solving methods, strong organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure.
- Experience leading projects and managing virtual cross-functional teams in an international environment.
- Self-starter with a driven and self-reliant attitude; strong strategic, analytical thinking, leadership skills, and intercultural expertise.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mentality.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 30-40% of the time.
