Position Overview
The Sourcing Manager is responsible for executing Direct Procurement Operations activities within a specific region, country, or site, along with supplier management responsibilities, including negotiating, contracting, and performance management in alignment with the Category Management team. As a member of the Direct Procurement Operations team, this role focuses on executing various value-added activities, including first-level escalation from business stakeholders, master data management, supplier performance management, and driving cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure maximum value for Operations.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Ensure procurement requests are executed in line with category guidance and comply with relevant policies, standards, guidelines, and operating procedures, including preferred supplier arrangements and contracting requirements.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Business stakeholders to understand and execute relevant procurement processes.
- Utilize appropriate methodologies, tools, and value levers for effective procurement.
- Work with Category Management teams to address end-user requirements and identify opportunities for aggregation and leverage.
- Ensure consistent value delivery through the application of continuous improvement methodologies and optimal supplier performance.
- Collaborate with legal and contracting functions for contracting activities, including the preparation and review of master agreements and statements of work.
- Maintain effective communication regarding the status, progress, and outcomes of procurement activities.
- Support the creation and review of relevant purchasing documentation.
- Maintain information flows back to the Category Management teams.
Must Haves
- University degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a similar field.
- A minimum of 3 years of procurement experience, with proficiency in basic contracting, business enterprise systems, and spot buying.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business requirements into procurement specifications with a focus on customer service.
- Sourcing management experience in a technical field (electronics, mechanics).
- Proficient in systems and processes for efficient management of contract documentation, templates, and processing tools (e.g. eSourcing, eAuction).
- Business-level fluency in English.
- Experience with business enterprise tools (SAP).
- Understanding of supporting cost reduction and value improvement programs.
- A collaborative team player.
Nice to Haves
- Postgraduate business-related qualification.
- Documented international Strategic Sourcing or cost reduction experience.
- Experience in operational excellence or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in Life Sciences.
- Professional purchasing certifications (e.g., CIPS, ISM) or finance-related licenses.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems and procure-to-pay tools, as well as eSourcing tools.
- Competence or fluency in German is strong encouraged (minimum B2 level).
- A business-related degree is preferable.
