Your Role
As a vital member of our team, and reporting directly to the Global Head of Marine & Energy, you will be tasked with developing a profitable and diversified portfolio. This includes overseeing all underwriting-related functions pertaining to a global book of new and renewal Marine & Energy reinsurance business, written within both Echo Re and DEVK Re.
Your Main Tasks
- Underwriting Marine & Energy treaty business in alignment with Echo Re and DEVK Re underwriting and pricing guidelines.
- Assisting in optimizing the existing portfolio and allocated capacity.
- Positioning Echo Re and DEVK Re as a significant player in the Marine & Energy reinsurance market.
- Collaborating with the Global Head of Marine & Energy and P&C Regional Managers to formulate the overall market and client strategy within the Underwriting Plan process.
- Overseeing the implementation of the Underwriting Plan, including the Consolidated Planning Tool (CPT) process.
- Executing all necessary measures to safeguard the profitability of the Marine & Energy business portfolio.
- Visiting markets and clients to develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients and brokers.
- Representing Echo Re and DEVK Re at industry events such as conferences.
- Maintaining a close working relationship with Pricing Actuaries and Regional Managers.
- Ensuring high-quality administration of the portfolio alongside Underwriting Assistants.
- Reviewing and approving claims in collaboration with the Claims Department in accordance with Claims Guidelines.
Your Profile
- A university degree in a relevant field or a recognized insurance qualification (ACII or equivalent).
- At least 10 years of reinsurance underwriting experience in the Marine and Energy sector, with a preference for experience within the London market.
- An enthusiastic and forward-thinking mindset focused on continuous improvement.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- A strong team player with effective communication skills.
- Proficient negotiation and communication abilities to interact with business partners and internal stakeholders.
- A technical, analytical, and results-oriented mindset.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs, particularly Excel.
- Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are advantageous.
