The research conducted at the lab will involve Huawei’s internal research staff collaborating with academic partners from leading universities across Europe. Position Available

To enhance our Data Center Network (DCN) team, we are seeking a:

(Senior) Researcher in Data Center Network

In this role, you will lead research efforts, exploring the developmental trajectory of DCN services and architecture, focusing on key algorithms and protocols. Your contributions will be instrumental in driving technological innovations and establishing critical technical milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Stay informed on leading-edge DCN technologies within academia and industry.
  • Conduct research on the top-level architecture and key technologies of next-generation DCNs.
  • Collaborate with lab members to design and implement novel DCN techniques.
  • Engage in diverse topics such as network topology, traffic control technology, software-defined networks, optical and electrical hybrid networks, and in-network computing.
  • Optimize the performance and efficiency of parallel computing systems, particularly large-scale AI clusters, focusing on the integration of network, computing, and storage systems.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields.
  • Candidates with experience in both industry and academia are preferred.
  • Familiarity with data center networks and high-performance interconnection technology systems.
  • Understanding of performance or efficiency optimization of parallel computing systems.
  • Experience in large-scale distributed deep learning, along with knowledge of relevant infrastructure and key technologies.
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, possessing strong teamwork and cross-cultural communication skills.

More Specifically

  • Research experience in modern network technology or high-performance interconnections with an understanding of cloud DCN technologies, including network architecture and resource pooling techniques.
  • Experience in performance or efficiency optimization for parallel computing systems, with capabilities in distributed machine/deep learning, distributed storage, and high-performance computing systems.
  • Familiarity with large-scale training/inference infrastructure and key technologies, providing systematic insights on enhancing system scale and efficiency (optional).
  • Thorough knowledge of network theory and optimization algorithms, especially in DCN service assurance technology, network congestion control, traffic scheduling/forecasting, TCP/RDMA acceleration, and low-latency assurance.
  • Experience conducting innovative research in evolving data center architectures, new topologies, protocols, hardware, and algorithms, including CXL bus protocol extensions, non-CLOS topologies, GPU cluster interconnections, and DPU offloading.
