Senior Researcher/Program Officer - Peace Mediation Process Design

The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich and the Master of Advanced Studies ETH Mediation in Peace Processes (MAS ETH MPP) are seeking to hire a senior researcher or program officer on peace mediation process design. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and steering the knowledge and tools development work of the CSS Mediation and Peace Promotion Cluster, conceptualizing and steering a joint book project, contributing to the design and implementation of teaching modules, and convening international discussions on process design.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and steer the knowledge and tools development work of the CSS Mediation and Peace Promotion Cluster on process design for the mediation of violent political conflict.
  • Conceptualize and steer a joint book project among mediation researchers and practitioners.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of teaching modules on process design within the MAS ETH MPP program and other relevant trainings.
  • Contribute to the design and convening of international discussions on process design among mediation researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • 4-5 years of experience working in a think tank, academia, non-governmental organization, government, and/or an international organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of peace mediation and/or process design.
  • Excellent management and coordination skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience in liaising with different stakeholders, including policymakers, government officials, and civil society organizations.
  • Proficiency in English.
