The Opportunity
You’ll join our Advanced Technology team, where we push the limits of robot autonomy and intelligence. In this role, you will:
- Evaluate cutting-edge AI, planning, and control technologies—from novel environment perception to advanced planning—to tackle real-world deployment challenges.
- Collaborate with engineers and partners to assess new technologies and design proof-of-concept experiments.
- Build research prototypes and swiftly transfer promising ideas to our product teams.
- Shape our technology roadmap, guiding long-term strategy, and ensuring every solution is robust, reliable, and ready for impact.

ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the renewable energy, process, and utility sectors by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that were previously out of reach. Our mobile robot, ANYmal, uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments and camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance. This enables it to perform jobs and deliver high-quality, consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including:

Your Contributions
- Exploring, developing, and implementing cutting-edge technological advancements in robotics, machine learning, planning, and control.
- Identifying emerging technologies, conducting in-depth evaluations, and translating findings into innovative products.
- Developing prototypes and conducting pilot projects to test new technologies in controlled environments.
- Driving collaborations with tech startups, research institutions, and industry leaders to leverage external expertise and accelerate innovation.
- Connecting with engineering teams for the adoption and integration of new technologies into existing systems and processes, ensuring a seamless transition.
Your Profile
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience in a research or advanced development setting.
- Excellent expertise in modern deep reinforcement learning techniques and architectures, with hands-on experience in training and fine-tuning such systems.
- Strong capability in designing and deploying state-of-the-art control and planning algorithms for real-world robotics or autonomous systems.
- Extensive practical experience across the MLOps pipeline—from data collection and curation to training, fine-tuning, and GPU-based deployment in embedded or edge systems.
- Proficient in fast prototyping, concept validation, and rapid iteration, employing experimentation as a core development tool.
- Strong self-coordination and project ownership, able to structure your work independently and align with strategic goals.
- Proficient programming skills in C++ and Python, with a focus on writing clean, efficient code.
- Familiarity with GPU programming, along with a desire to deepen your knowledge and enhance performance tuning where needed.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively share knowledge and insights.
