Description

Pi Imaging Technology is a fabless semiconductor company specializing in the creation of single-photon detector arrays characterized by exceptional sensitivity and low noise levels. Our innovative technology enables partners to develop groundbreaking products that push the boundaries of science in fields such as life sciences (including confocal microscopy and fluorescence (FLIM) imaging) and quantum information. Our systems are based on single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) designed using standard semiconductor technology, facilitating the development of photon-counting arrays with megapixel resolution and customizable architectures. These arrays are integrated into user-friendly, plug-and-play products, supported by both FPGA firmware and C++ software to ensure an optimal operational experience for end users.

Position Description

As a member of our dedicated electronics engineering team, you will engage in a variety of tasks associated with both the development of new products and the enhancement of existing ones, including:

• Developing FPGA firmware and software for high-speed serial communication interfaces.
• Designing PCBs for high-speed serial communication and storage solutions with high-bandwidth connections for detector arrays.
• Verifying firmware and software while addressing bugs reported by end users.
• Conducting initial bring-up and characterization of new detectors.
• Procuring components and assembly services for prototypes.
• Assembling proof-of-concept prototypes.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in electronics engineering or a related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Required Skills

• Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Advanced knowledge and experience in C++, VHDL, and Altium Designer.
• Proficient in designing FPGA firmware in VHDL while adhering to tight timing constraints.
• Experience with high-speed serial communication protocols (e.g., Xilinx Aurora, PCI-E).
• Familiarity with test and measurement requirements.
• Experience with data analysis software such as Python or equivalents.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Knowledge of statistics, including Poisson and exponential distributions.
• Familiarity with semiconductor technology.
• Experience with necessary testing to validate semiconductor chips.
