  • Leading the system design, specification, testing, and qualification of SST main components and subsystems across various operating conditions.
  • Driving projects from conceptual design and simulation to validation in our R&D labs.
  • Collaborating closely with other R&D functions (control hardware/software, mechanics, verification & validation) to ensure seamless integration.
  • Contributing to the productization, qualification, and certification of SST system designs for commercial use.
  • Working in close partnership with stakeholders across ABB, including program managers, product architects, research scientists, and productization teams.
  • Maintaining and expanding expertise in power electronics technologies, contributing to ABB’s intellectual property and standards activities.

Qualifications for the Role

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power Electronics and orientation toward High Power / Medium Voltage applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in power electronics system design and development.
  • Strong skills in modeling, simulation, and system analysis using modern design tools.
  • Hands-on experience in testing, validation, and productization of power electronic solutions; medium-voltage expertise is a strong plus.
  • Interest in applied research and experimentation within an MV lab environment.
  • Self-driven and collaborative, motivated to work in a global, multicultural R&D team.
  • Fluency in English; German is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

What's in it for You?

At ABB, you will be part of a pioneering team influencing the future of energy systems for datacenters. We offer access to cutting-edge labs, opportunities to collaborate with global experts, and the chance to influence patents, standards, and new product families. You will benefit from an international culture that values innovation and continuous learning, with flexible working models and attractive career opportunities worldwide.
