Position Overview

This position reports to the Data Center Project Execution Leader.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Do you want to help shape the future of energy conversion technologies for data centers? Join ABB’s global Center of Excellence for Solid State Transformers (SST) and work on groundbreaking solutions that redefine how data centers are powered, emphasizing efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

The work model for this role is: onsite.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Leading the specification, design, testing, and qualification of Power Electronics Building Blocks (PEBBs) for Solid State Transformers in data center applications.
• Driving the conceptual design of power electronics cells and building blocks using analytical and simulation tools, followed by lab validation in a Medium Voltage environment.
• Overseeing the integration of SST cells at the converter level, ensuring qualification and productization in collaboration with Control HW/SW, Mechanical, and Validation teams.
• Collaborating closely with program managers, product architects, scientists, and productization teams to deliver innovative SST solutions.
• Contributing to building and protecting ABB’s expertise in high-power and medium-voltage power electronics, including intellectual property and standards.

Qualifications for the Role

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power Electronics.
• 5+ years of experience in the design and development of Power Electronics Building Blocks; expertise in high-power or medium-voltage converters is a strong advantage.
• Proven skills in modeling, simulation, and analysis using state-of-the-art tools.
• Strong interest in practical experimentation, testing, and qualification in a Medium Voltage lab environment.
• Experience with productization and component validation in MV environments is highly valued.
• Self-driven, motivated, with a passion for applied R&D in an international expert team.
• Fluency in English; German is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
