Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD-level analytical chemist to strengthen and expand our capabilities in mixed modalities across the organization. In this role, you will apply your scientific expertise to shape analytical strategies for oligonucleotide development, with the scope to evolve to other new therapeutic modalities as our portfolio grows, ensuring the high-quality delivery of new therapeutic candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage your strong expertise and creativity in analytical development to establish future analytical control strategies and standards for oligonucleotide projects.
- Create experimental designs within our labs to execute, interpret, and report data and results effectively.
- Coordinate and plan all cGMP-related activities for starting materials and intermediates to ensure timely manufacture under GMP within Chemical & Analytical Development.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external partners as a core member of a cross-functional team, ensuring the timely and quality delivery of new nucleotide drugs to our patients.
- Provide relevant process documentation in support of filing of dossiers.
- Actively participate in scientific exchange groups within Novartis and academia while maintaining excellent collaborations with our customers.
Essential Requirements
- PhD in analytical chemistry or pharmaceutical analysis, ideally with a specialization in oligonucleotide analytics.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical analysis, particularly in the context of complex molecules or emerging modalities.
- Scientific curiosity and recognized achievements in developing new analytical methods using advanced separation technologies (e.g., UHPLC operated in various modes: RP, HILIC, IP, AEX, SEC, 2D), and related hyphenated detection technology, including CAD and MS.
- Strong experience in developing analytical methods using high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), including advanced data processing, interpretation, and evaluation supported by relevant software tools.
- Dedicated, thoughtful, and flexible team collaboration skills.
- Good knowledge of English (oral and written) is required; proficiency in German (spoken/written) is desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of laboratory and/or technical tools.
Desirable Requirements
- Several years of relevant professional experience in the field of analytical development.
- Good knowledge of software and computer tools such as the Office package and relevant analytical software suites (e.g., Chromeleon, Xcalibur, OpenLab 2, Genedata).
