Position: Senior Counselor / Partner
At our Zurich office, QUORUS GmbH (www.quorus.ch) is actively expanding its activities and services in Kazakhstan. We are seeking a Senior Counselor / Partner with a robust Kazakh or Russian academic background in law and finance, an executive-level education from a prestigious international university, a solid business network, and an extensive client portfolio in Kazakhstan. The ideal candidate will also possess substantial experience in multinational legal and financial projects with a significant Central Asian focus.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in complex international M&A and venture transactions, including negotiations, legal structuring, documentation preparation, and assisting in closing.
- Engage in arbitration proceedings supported by the firm, including strategy elaboration, submission preparation, and participation in oral pleadings and hearings.
- Monitor and interpret US, UK, EU, and Swiss sanctions against Russia, particularly the risks of secondary sanctions.
- Conduct legal reviews and analyses of various contracts and corporate documentation governed by English, European, and Swiss law.
- Provide legal support and consultations for emerging businesses and start-ups.
- Support Swiss/EU clients entering the Kazakhstan market.
- Contribute to and develop a comprehensive portfolio of private clients, particularly among high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs).
- Consult with private clients on their business needs and actively engage in day-to-day cooperation, including negotiations and business trips.
Your Contribution
- Legal qualification under Swiss, Kazakh, or Russian law is essential, with proven knowledge of the other legal systems.
- International qualifications at a Master of Science level in Law or Finance are required; executive-level education is an asset.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience, including contract review, legal clarifications, and preparation of legal opinions.
- Deep knowledge and first-hand experience of business and legal practices in Kazakhstan.
- Experience in senior roles (e.g., CEO or deputy CEO) in national companies in Kazakhstan or comparable positions in Switzerland.
- Comprehensive international experience in legal and business fields (at least 6 years).
- Fluency in English, Kazakh, German, and Russian; proficiency in French or Italian is an asset.
- Experience managing complex multi-jurisdictional projects and working with the EBRD.
- Experience as a board member for large corporations is advantageous.
- A personal portfolio of clients is required.
- Willingness to undertake regular business trips.
