Job Opportunity: Animal Caretaker at the Experimental Animal Center (EAC)
We are seeking a dedicated Animal Caretaker for the Experimental Animal Center (EAC), with a start date as soon as possible or by mutual agreement. This position is initially limited to one year, with the option for extension.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional animal care while monitoring and recording animal health.
- Breed genetically modified experimental animals.
- Maintain hygiene standards and conditions.
- Document animal data in our computer system accurately.
- Perform specific services such as taking skin biopsies for genotyping.
- Clean materials, equipment, and facilities in compliance with hygiene regulations.
- Assist in the operational maintenance of equipment as well as in goods receipt and storage.
- Participate in animal care duties on a rotational basis during weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- Completed professional training in animal care or a related agricultural field.
- Demonstrated responsibility towards entrusted animals.
- Reliability, quick comprehension, resilience, and efficient working methods.
- A communicative working style with flexibility and a strong enjoyment of teamwork.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Good knowledge of German; English skills at level A2 are an advantage.
