Role Overview
The successful candidate will play a key role in the discovery and development of botanical-derived products. This position will involve a combination of research, exploration, analysis, and experimentation to identify and validate bioactive compounds in plants that can be utilized across various application areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough literature reviews to identify potential plant species.
- Collaborate on the planning of new product development.
- Support the laboratory team in characterizing bioactive compounds from plant materials using state-of-the-art techniques (e.g., LC, MS).
- Manage product development projects, including supervision and support of external service providers in "bioassays in vitro" and "analytics," as well as customer support.
- Evaluate test data and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage the procurement and registration of test material (plant samples).
- Support internal laboratory work in the areas of extraction and analytics.
- Participate in scientific discussions and contribute to research proposals.
Qualifications and Skills
- Senior profile with an MSc; a PhD is a plus.
- Master's/PhD degree in Phytochemistry, Ethnobotany, Botany, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of plant biology, secondary metabolites, and their pharmacological effects.
- Strong background in phytochemistry and natural product chemistry.
- Extensive experience in laboratory research, especially in vitro bioassays and experimental pharmacology.
- Familiarity with advanced analytical techniques such as chromatography and mass spectrometry.
- Experience with fieldwork and the collection of plant specimens.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated passion for sustainable and ethical practices in research.
- Proficient in written and spoken English and German.
