Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and curious Research Scientist to specialize in small-scale siRNA synthesis within our xRNA synthesis team at Biomedical Research in Basel. Our team is dedicated to producing next-generation xRNA therapeutics in a collaborative and innovation-driven environment, striving to transform the lives of millions of patients with unmet medical needs. The successful candidate will take responsibility for producing and purifying high-quality oligonucleotides while contributing to our innovation efforts in siRNA chemistry. About the Role

Your Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute small-scale oligonucleotide synthesis on automated synthesizers
  • Conduct deprotection, purification, annealing, and routine analytical characterization autonomously
  • Analyze and communicate scientific results during internal meetings
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team of RNA scientists
  • Maintain high standards in laboratory safety and working practices

What You Will Bring to the Role

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, focused on synthetic organic chemistry (please note that a PhD is not required for this position)
  • Prior experience with small-scale oligonucleotide synthesis and DNA synthesizers (e.g., K&A, MerMade) is an advantage
  • A passion for oligonucleotide chemistry and experimentation in a wet lab
  • A critical thinking perspective, capable of formulating innovative hypotheses
  • Interest in cutting-edge technological and scientific trends such as novel drug modalities and automation, particularly regarding their applications in drug discovery and development
  • A collaborative mindset with enthusiasm for personal and team development
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality data
  • Aptitude for working in a fast-paced, team-oriented matrix environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
