Summary
At Novartis, we are reimagining medicine to enhance and extend people's lives. By leveraging innovative science and technology, we address some of society's most pressing healthcare challenges. We aim to discover and develop groundbreaking treatments and identify new avenues for delivering them to a wider population.
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate researcher with a robust scientific background in radiochemistry. A curious mindset and cultural agility are essential for integrating into our dynamic team, where you will identify new targeting vectors for radioligand therapy (RLT).
About the Role
As a key member of our team, your responsibilities will include:
- Radioligand Synthesis: Independently plan and execute the synthesis of radioligands (including LMW compounds, peptides, and protein-based vectors) utilizing radionuclides such as Lu-177, Ga-68, and F-18, in line with project objectives.
- Method Development: Innovate, evaluate, and validate novel radiolabeling methods and formulation strategies to optimize the synthesis process.
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality control analyses of radioligands (e.g., HPLC, TLC, SEC) to ensure their readiness for preclinical in vitro and in vivo studies.
- Collaborative Research: Work alongside multidisciplinary teams, including organic chemists, pharmacologists, and cell biologists, to enhance the characterization and advancement of radioligand therapies (RLTs) in oncology.
- Innovation: Explore and incorporate innovative technologies, such as automation, to improve efficiency in laboratory tasks.
- Radiation Safety: Follow radiation safety protocols, completing necessary training, dosimetry monitoring, and ensuring the proper handling and disposal of radioactive materials.
Minimum Requirements
What You'll Bring to the Role:
- Scientific Expertise: A strong enthusiasm for hands-on experimental chemistry and radiochemistry, with the ability to critically analyze results, formulate hypotheses, and design subsequent experiments.
- Education: A master’s or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent apprenticeship in chemistry, pharmacy, or a related field. Experience in radiochemistry and radiolabeling techniques is essential (PhD not required).
- Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of practical laboratory experience in radiochemistry, along with proficiency in standard IT tools (e.g., E-Notebook, ChemDraw, software-controlled lab equipment).
- Team-Oriented Approach: A passion for working in cross-disciplinary teams, sharing scientific ideas, and contributing to collective goals while learning from diverse perspectives.
- Mindset: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and a commitment to high-quality results.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with automated synthesizers for radiolabeling and purification is advantageous.
- Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Professional Growth and Development
We are devoted to fostering the professional growth of every team member. In this role, you will have the opportunity to broaden your expertise both scientifically and technically.
- Scientific Involvement: Engage in project teams, contributing your ideas and helping to direct innovative projects.
- Technical Growth: Become an expert and go-to person for specific instruments or processes, contributing significantly to team success.
As you develop in this role, you will take on increasingly crucial responsibilities, becoming a valued member of our team. We believe in empowering our staff to thrive through collaboration, continuous learning, and meaningful challenges.
