Quality Assurance Engineer – Aerospace

The Quality Assurance Engineer plays a crucial role in the development, implementation, and verification of Quality Assurance requirements. This position serves as the primary interface between Process Engineering and Operations, focusing on quality and safety topics. The Quality Assurance Engineer will contribute to the effective execution of the BG Quality Programme in accordance with Product Assurance Requirements at the manufacturing site.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Develop the Quality Assurance Requirements and Culture, ensuring robust quality processes and cost-effective program quality execution through collaboration with engineering, operations, and supply chain.
  • Act as the main interface for Process Engineering and Operations on all quality and safety topics.
  • Establish Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) features in collaboration with Process Engineering and Operations.
  • Lead Non-Conformance and failure investigations when product and/or process requirements are violated.
  • Supervise and direct Internal Manufacturing Assembly Integration and Test (MAIT) Process Development and Qualification for all relevant quality aspects.
  • Define and monitor Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Process Capability.
  • Perform Quality Inspections as per Product Manufacturing Inspection Plan.
  • Document Key Inspection Points (KIPs) and Mandatory Inspection Points (MIPs) in Production Records to verify Critical Features/Requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the Quality Assurance Program in alignment with Project Milestones.
  • Ensure successful compliance with Customer, Regulatory, and Internal Requirements for Operations Execution.
  • Translate Customer Critical to Quality Requirements into internal specifications and requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate the Internal Process for Non-Conformance Management.
  • Conduct Operations Critical Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and investigation activities.
  • Moderate Process FMEA sessions.
  • Develop Process Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) and Control Plans in collaboration with Process Engineering and Operations.
  • Establish Process Quality Documentation.
  • Support Process Qualification.
  • Contribute to Quality matters in proposals as part of the Request For Information / Request For Quotation.
  • Participate in Customer and Internal Audits as a Quality Assurance representative.
  • Contribute to the development of the Quality Organization through Training and Coaching initiatives.

  • Enhance Customer Satisfaction regarding Quality Performance.
  • Improve Operations Quality Performance metrics.
  • Develop Process FMEA with focus on Process Critical-to-Quality (CTQs) and Control Plans.
  • Provide input for the Product Quality data package for Space Applications.
  • Contribute to the Final Product Qualification data package for Space Applications.
  • Conduct Internal Root Cause Analysis and Non-Conformance Reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement.
  • BSc/MSc degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of standards such as EN9100, ECSS, NASA, and MIL.
  • Able to quickly understand and analyze technical products and systems.
  • High level of theoretical knowledge with practical coaching abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with Quality preventive methodologies (5Why, Ishikawa Fishbone, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in additional languages (German, French, Swedish) is a plus.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry or related fields.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • High enthusiasm for quality and continuous improvement.
  • Confident communicator, able to address challenging issues effectively.
  • Willingness to travel 5% to 10% nationally and internationally as required.
