Ad Terra: Company Overview

Ad Terra is a Swiss-based geoscience and engineering consulting firm, as well as a renewable energy operator, committed to unlocking the Earth's boundless energy potential responsibly.

Position Summary

We are actively seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and skilled Senior Geophysicist with expertise in structural interpretation and a solid background in Quantitative Interpretation (QI). In this role, you will be integral to delivering successful energy consulting projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring our clients receive exceptional support. Your responsibilities will include contributing to technical work within petroleum and geothermal energy projects, as well as supporting critical raw material prospection.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural seismic interpretation and mapping with a focus on geological and engineering objectives.
  • Integrate information from various imaging approaches.
  • Apply seismostratigraphic principles and seismic texture recognition to support lithological and stratigraphic predictions.
  • Supervise quantitative interpretation, post-stack, and pre-stack inversion for rock properties and seismic well ties.
  • Integrate AVO/AVA/AVAZ/VVAZ principles into interpretation and geological models.
  • Perform seismic processing QC/QA concerning geological and technical targets and concepts.
  • Conduct time-to-depth conversion and apply velocity models derived from VSP, sonic integration, and geological data for PreSDM velocity model building.
  • Manage data, including loading seismic data, well information, and logs.
  • Compile regular progress reports and project status updates.
  • Prepare high-quality maps and reports.
  • Support the planning of exploration targets and drilling activities.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Geophysics, Geology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in the energy sector.
  • A passionate and proactive approach to geology and geophysics with strong teamwork skills.
  • Proficient in specific software, including:
    • Kingdom Suite (S&P)
    • AspenTech (formerly Paradigm, formerly Emerson)
  • Strong understanding of geological concepts, lithology, and rock properties concerning structural deformation and reservoir/seal pairs, capable of challenging geological well correlations.
  • In-depth knowledge of seismostratigraphic principles and seismic texture recognition for facies and lithology prediction.
  • Familiarity with Quantitative Interpretation technologies and rock physics, rock property inversion.
  • Experience with seismic imaging principles, including azimuthal and offset substacks for target-specific interpretation.
  • Extensive knowledge of carbonate geology and experience in carbonates seismic interpretation.
  • Understanding of AVO/AVA/AVAZ/VVAZ workflows.
  • Knowledge of seismic well ties workflows, including time-depth-time and depth-to-depth conversions of seismic and interpretation data.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of French and/or German is a plus.
