Summary

In Pharmaceutical Development, we strive to make a difference to patients around the globe through the continuous innovation of cutting-edge products, including pioneering pharmaceutical technologies for parenteral dosage forms containing RNAs. As a PostDoc based in Basel, Switzerland, you will lead the design, process development, and characterization of next-generation Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) formulations. This position offers the opportunity to closely collaborate with experts from both the Technical Development and Biomedical Research groups, spanning both Switzerland and the USA.

About the Role

As a PostDoc in Basel, you will undertake significant responsibilities that include:

  • Conception, design, execution, and reporting of an independent research program focused on developing a novel LNP platform for RNA delivery.
  • Formulation and characterization of innovative lipid nanoparticle designs.
  • Data analysis correlating nanoparticle characteristics with in vitro and in vivo biological endpoints to facilitate data-driven optimization of lipid nanoparticles with enhanced biological properties.
  • Process development activities and assessment of process performance.
  • Close collaboration with key stakeholders both internally and externally on the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Education: PhD in life sciences (e.g., chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, bioengineering or similar fields; completion of PhD no longer than three years ago).
  • Languages: Proficiency in English.
  • Experience:
    • In-depth theoretical knowledge and practical experience in lipid nanoparticle formulation and process development, specifically for RNA delivery.
    • Strong organizational and scientific skills, including a curiosity for planning and executing laboratory work.
    • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams within an international environment.
    • Demonstrated publication track record along with evidence of effective scientific communication and presentation skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with state-of-the-art pharmaceutical technology, including the characterization of physicochemical properties and pharmaceutical material sciences, particularly with LNP morphology.
  • Practical experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, and the development of biochemical assays.
