Your Tasks

You will study irradiation-induced effects on materials that are currently used or will be utilized in various facilities such as spallation neutron sources, accelerator-driven systems (ADS), and next-generation nuclear energy devices. Your responsibilities will include conducting mechanical testing to investigate changes in the mechanical properties of several materials, including Fe-, Al-, Ti-, Ni-, and W-based alloys, after irradiation at the Swiss Spallation Neutron Source. Additionally, you will employ advanced microstructural analytical techniques to analyze the microstructure of these irradiated materials.

Your Profile

You hold a PhD in materials science, engineering, or physics with a solid understanding of radiation effects in materials. You are adept with various microstructural analytical tools, particularly transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Experience with mechanical testing of structural materials is preferred. Furthermore, you are friendly, open-minded, creative, and a highly motivated researcher.
