Postdoctoral Fellow / Postdoctoral Fellowess

Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) - April 24, 2025

Your Tasks

You will investigate irradiation-induced effects on materials utilized in various facilities such as spallation neutron sources, accelerator-driven systems (ADS), and next-generation nuclear energy devices. Your role will involve conducting mechanical testing to assess the changes in mechanical properties of materials, including Fe-, Al-, Ti-, Ni-, and W-based alloys, after irradiation within the targets of the Swiss Spallation Neutron Source. Additionally, you will employ advanced microstructural analytical techniques to analyze the microstructure of these irradiated materials.

Your Profile

You hold a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering or physics, with a strong foundational knowledge of radiation effects in materials. You are proficient in using various microstructural analytical tools, particularly transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Experience in mechanical testing of structural materials is preferred. Moreover, you are a friendly, open-minded, creative, and highly motivated researcher.
