What You'll Be Doing Here
You will be a doctoral candidate in the ALDEX project, a collaboration between ETH Zurich, Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), and Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Winterthur (ZHAW). Your dissertation will be closely supervised by teams from both BFH (led by Prof. Dr. Christoph Denkel) and ETH Zurich (led by Prof. Dr. Alexander Mathys).
The focus of your dissertation will be on developing a hybrid product base made up of microalgae and milk protein to create new food structures and functionalities.
You will investigate interactions between phases, explore interfacial dynamics, and develop strategies for the compatibilization and structuring of two or more phases.
Occasionally, you may assist in teaching through lectures or practical courses.
What You'll Bring With You
An excellent master's degree in food science, materials science, food process engineering, or a related field.
A quick adaptability to new knowledge areas, combined with strong comprehension and a steep learning curve.
A passion for research, a high level of self-motivation, and an innovative mindset to tackle challenging questions and explore uncharted territories.
Strong analytical skills, creativity, and the ability to think abstractly to develop new solutions.
A structured, independent, and reliable work ethic, complemented by open-mindedness.
Proficient English skills, ideally with additional proficiency in German.
