100%, Zurich, Fixed-term
The Group for Sustainability and Technology (SusTec) at ETH Zurich's Department of Management, Technology, and Economics investigates organizational, technological, and institutional change across various sectors, focusing on energy, decarbonization, and the circular economy. Our research addresses these challenges from two complementary perspectives: examining how public policy shapes innovation and the diffusion of sustainable technologies at the system level, and exploring corporate strategies and organizational dynamics at the firm level.
We are expanding our research on public policies for clean fuels and invite applications for a PhD student in Modeling Supply Chains for Net-Zero Technologies (100%).
This PhD position is part of the Zero-AMPS project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). The project investigates policies aimed at accelerating the development of supply chains for net-zero technologies, such as renewable hydrogen. Research will encompass national, regional, and global scales, assessing policy outcomes, including technology diffusion, job creation, and energy supply security. The PhD candidate will focus on developing and implementing the innovative Zero-AMPS modeling framework, which combines agent-based modeling with energy system modeling to simulate supply chains for net-zero technologies.
We expect your research to be scientifically rigorous and relevant to both policymakers and managers. You will collaborate closely with fellow researchers and engage with policymakers, managers, and other stakeholders. As part of your responsibilities, you will publish your findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and other outreach outlets. Additionally, you will supervise master's students and support the group’s teaching efforts.
Your work will contribute significantly to advancing knowledge in policies related to net-zero technologies, emphasizing both academic rigor and real-world impact.
