Dysregulation of lipid metabolism plays a crucial role in the development and progression of metabolic disorders, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Our group's primary goal is to understand lipid metabolism in humans and to develop innovative approaches for deep metabolic phenotyping.
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD candidate to join our multidisciplinary research team to investigate the underlying mechanisms associated with dysregulation of lipid metabolism in MASLD. This project aims to elucidate the mechanistic role of lipid signaling molecules in driving hepatic inflammation and fibrosis and to identify novel therapeutic interventions.
This research will provide multidisciplinary training, requiring a combination of complementary approaches, including:
Applicants should hold a master's degree or equivalent in molecular biology, biochemistry, systems biology, or analytical chemistry, and possess a strong interest in metabolism. Experience working with mass spectrometry is required, and familiarity with liver research is advantageous. Candidates must be highly organized and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team. Good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as fluency in both spoken and written English, are essential.
We provide candidates with a supportive and state-of-the-art research environment for scientific and professional development. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a multidisciplinary research project, including pre-clinical models and clinical studies. The position is fully funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and will be available starting September 2025 (or upon agreement).
