Job Description

Main Tasks:

Lead and develop the mass spectrometry laboratory, ensuring scientific and technical excellence along with operational efficiency to advance FK biosimilars development.

Develop, establish, and execute mass spectrometry protocols relevant to biosimilars’ characterization and similarity assessment, including intact mass, subunit analysis, post-translational modifications (PTMs), sequencing, peptide mapping, and disulfide bridge mapping.

Support an analytical strategy tailored to different development phases in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Provide mass spectrometry and molecular characterization expertise to stakeholders and project management teams.

Be responsible for instrument operations, calibration, maintenance, setting up new methods and equipment, and method improvements. Troubleshoot issues with instruments and methods as necessary.

Take charge of method development, qualification, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation. Apply data integrity principles of R&D Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliant generation and reporting of submission-relevant data.

Interpret and report results from work conducted in both written and oral formats to internal and external stakeholders. Review and approve operating procedures and analytical reports.

Plan experiments, allocate resources, and deliver results in alignment with project timelines.

Provide project support, communicate progress, seek alignment with other laboratories, and escalate prioritization issues when necessary.

Manage the performance and development of personnel to ensure the achievement of goals, motivation, and productivity.

Qualification Profile:

Education and Languages

  • University degree in a relevant area: PhD with a minimum of 4 years of experience or MSc with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the Biotech/Pharma industry.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); proficiency in French is a plus.

Professional Skills and Experience

  • Strong background in mass spectrometry for monoclonal antibody (mAb) and recombinant protein characterization and method development.
  • Good understanding of monoclonal antibodies, their critical quality attributes, and structure-function relationships.
  • Advanced knowledge and proven experience in peptide mapping, intact mass analysis, and LC-MS workflows for the characterization of biotherapeutics. Proficiency in proteomics approaches (identification and quantification).
  • Proven experience in people management and stakeholder management; must be a team player capable of analytical and critical thinking.
  • Experience with the evaluation and implementation of new technologies.
  • Familiarity with the Thermo Q-Orbitrap FTMS platform is advantageous.
