Summary

We are offering a 6-month legal trainee position to support the Novartis Operations Legal department, commencing in June 2025.

About the Role

This legal trainee position provides an exceptional opportunity to engage in a variety of legal matters and projects encompassing contract law, commercial law, antitrust law, intellectual property, and disputes/litigation. You will gain invaluable in-house legal experience within the dynamic and multinational setting of a leading pharmaceutical company.

Duration: 6 months
Start: June 1, 2025

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supporting a diverse range of commercial matters related to direct and indirect procurement, manufacturing, and IT.
  • Assisting in various legal projects such as contract templates, legal training, global legal research, digitalization, and outsourcing.
  • Assisting with the drafting, negotiation, and review of various transactional and commercial agreements.
  • Drafting legal memoranda addressing a wide range of legal issues and disputes.
  • Providing legal advice to internal clients.
  • Receiving guidance and mentorship from experienced lawyers at different levels within the company, ensuring a robust learning experience.

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

Essential:

  • Swiss Law degree (Master of Law and Bachelor of Law must be in Swiss Law) with the master's degree to be completed before the start date.
  • Business-level proficiency in English (both written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
  • A keen interest in legal topics within a large multinational corporate environment.
  • High motivation to perform, a desire to discover and learn new things, and the ability to work independently.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Prior legal professional experience in a law firm, court, or legal department (internships and similar roles) is helpful, although we welcome applicants without prior experience who display a strong interest and motivation to learn on the job.
  • Other professional experience in a corporate environment is an advantage.
