As a Lead Data Scientist in Swiss Marketplace Group's Real Estate Business Unit, you will be instrumental in developing the data hub for Switzerland's leading real estate platforms, including homegate.ch and immoscout24.ch. You will be part of a cross-functional, agile data team characterized by an open mindset and a shared enthusiasm for learning new skills and exchanging knowledge.

About The Position

  • Design and implement data science and machine learning use cases to deliver value to our users and address business challenges.
  • Act as the technical lead for data science projects and teams, aligning with business needs to drive value.
  • Provide technical guidance, propose best practices, and facilitate team agreements related to these practices.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis on large, complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, ultimately generating high-quality data and pertinent hypotheses.
  • Lead the implementation of Generative AI use cases from conceptualization and experimentation to execution and monitoring.
  • Develop and apply ML/AI techniques and best practices for reliable, scalable, and ethical data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project objectives and design formal evaluation methods for system performance against these goals.
  • Write, review, and debug code for complex projects, steering solution development and alignment.
  • Own and enhance our in-house models in various domains, such as inventory classification, predictions, recommendations, and fraud detection.
  • Report directly to the Head of Data Engineering & Science.

Qualifications

What will you bring to the ride?

  • 5+ years of experience in building data science projects.
  • Deep understanding of data science pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Proficiency in data lineage, transformation, modeling, storage, access, and quality assessment techniques essential for effective model development and productionalization.
  • Experience working with large volumes of heterogeneous data.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (and preferably SQL) alongside solid data modeling abilities.
  • Experience with deploying machine learning models in a production environment, including aspects like retraining and experiment tracking.
  • Proven success in productionizing machine learning models.
  • Capability to quickly investigate and master new datasets.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and navigate ambiguity.
  • Attention to detail in complex environments.
  • A strong commitment to effecting change with a positive attitude.
  • A proactive approach to learning and finding solutions beyond your immediate area of expertise.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Eager to stay current with the latest ML technologies in a dynamic business environment.
