The Tumor and Stem Cell Dynamics Lab, led by Prof. Helmuth Gehart, is seeking a highly motivated laboratory technician to support ongoing research efforts. Our lab is located at the Institute of Molecular Health Sciences within the Department of Biology (D-BIOL) on the ETH Hönggerberg campus, part of the Life Science Campus at ETH Zurich.

About Our Lab

The Tumor and Stem Cell Dynamics Lab integrates a diverse range of disciplines and techniques to tackle significant questions in cancer and stem cell research. Our interdisciplinary group employs organoid technology, microfluidics, patient samples, microscopy, in vivo models, genome engineering, single-cell analysis, and computational and molecular biology to uncover the complexities of cancer cells and adult stem cells.

Position Overview

We are currently looking for a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to contribute to our ongoing projects. The main responsibilities will include:

  • Organoid/tumoroid culture, maintenance, and characterization
  • Microscopy, RNA preparation, DNA preparation, histology, drug screening, and flow cytometry
  • General support for ongoing research activities

You will join an international team of researchers, engaging in innovative projects within a highly motivating scientific environment.

Qualifications

  • A strong desire to contribute to cancer and stem cell research
  • Willingness to take responsibility for complex tasks
  • Excellent organization and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques
  • A collaborative spirit and support for leading projects in the lab
  • A willingness to learn new techniques and explore novel ideas
  • A team player with exceptional communication skills
  • Previous experience with complex cell culture models (e.g., 3D culture) is a plus
