Job Opportunity: Laboratory Technician

The Tumor and Stem Cell Dynamics Lab, led by Prof. Helmuth Gehart at the Institute of Molecular Health Sciences within the Department of Biology (D-BIOL) at ETH Zurich, is seeking a highly motivated laboratory technician to support ongoing research activities. Our lab is located on the ETH Hönggerberg campus, part of the vibrant Life Science Campus of ETH Zurich.

Our research group combines a diverse array of disciplines and techniques to address critical questions in cancer and stem cell research. Utilizing organoid technology, microfluidics, patient samples, microscopy, in vivo models, genome engineering, single-cell analysis, and computational and molecular biology, we aim to elucidate the intricate workings of cancer cells and adult stem cells.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organoid/tumoroid culture, maintenance, and characterization
  • Microscopy, RNA preparation, DNA preparation, and histology
  • Drug screening and flow cytometry
  • General support of ongoing research projects

Qualifications

  • Strong motivation to contribute to cancer and stem cell research
  • Willingness to take responsibility for complex tasks
  • Excellent organization and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to support leading projects
  • Eagerness to learn new techniques and experiment with ideas
  • Team player with outstanding communication skills
  • Previous experience with complex cell culture models (e.g., 3D culture) is a plus
