INSELSPITAL - April 28, 2025

Job Opportunity: Laboratory Technician in Endometriosis and Gynaecological Oncology

We are seeking a dedicated laboratory technician to join the Endometriosis and Gynaecological Oncology (EndoGO) research unit led by Prof. Mueller. This role involves supporting our research projects and ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory.

Our research unit is part of the Inselspital's Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with a particular focus on endometriosis. This condition is characterized by the extra-uterine invasion and growth of endometrial tissue, leading to chronic pain, fatigue, irregular bleeding, and infertility. Our mission is to compare biological samples from women with and without endometriosis to identify variations that may explain the development, progression, and symptoms of the disease.

What You Can Expect

  • Biobanking: Process, label, and store biological samples.
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Manage stock levels and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Research Support: Assist researchers with various molecular and cellular biology tasks, including cell and organoid cultures, immunoassays, immunofluorescence, PCR, western blot, confocal microscopy, and FACS.

Your Profile

  • Education and training: Preference for candidates with a Biology laboratory technician (CFC) or medical laboratory technician diploma. Individuals holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology with a strong interest in a technical career path are also encouraged to apply.
  • Possess a research-oriented, meticulous, and accurate approach.
  • Exhibit flexibility and availability for biobanking tasks according to the surgery schedule.
  • Previous experience in BSL2 environments is advantageous.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to work autonomously.
  • Show excellent interpersonal skills and thrive as a team player.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of French is a plus, but not required.

What We Offer

We provide adjustable work schedules to support candidates who have additional responsibilities, such as childcare or caring for family members.
