Job Overview
The International Marketing Lead for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is responsible for overseeing all marketing deliverables outside of North America for SPINRAZA. This role is pivotal in driving the brand's continued growth; the incumbent will guide the SMA Marketing team in fine-tuning near-term marketing strategies (18-24 months) and short-term execution plans (6 months). Working under the leadership of the International Commercial Lead, this position will collaborate with cross-functional partners in the iCoE to ensure a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics in key regions. The International Marketing Lead will also co-create branded and unbranded materials, share best practices among affiliates, manage above-market initiatives, and develop educational journeys for new content.
As a role model for the International SPINRAZA brand team, the Marketing Lead demonstrates a strong passion for understanding both external and internal customer needs, along with competitive intelligence to establish a distinctly competitive marketing strategy supported by robust execution.
This high-impact, hands-on creative leader will be accountable for executing key tactics of the marketing strategy and ensuring cross-functional collaboration. Extensive engagement with regional and affiliate teams is required. The ideal candidate will effectively connect with and engage stakeholders, recognize the key differences among European and Intercontinental markets, and orchestrate key activities across matrixed and geographically diverse teams to guarantee the successful implementation of the strategy.
Principal Accountability

SPINRAZA Marketing:
- Drive core marketing initiatives and above-market deliverables from concept to deployment.
- Own the SPINRAZA marketing plan, transforming insights into actionable strategies through iteration.
- Develop concept initiatives and deliverables in alignment with the annual tactical plan, including face-to-face interactions, digital campaigns, and congresses/events, in collaboration with Marketing Leads from key markets.
- Ensure timely achievement of committed milestones and efficient resource management through effective project management.
- Collaborate with creative agencies and internal digital teams to develop branded and unbranded assets, ensuring alignment with Marketing leads from key countries.
- Conduct PRC reviews in accordance with standard operating procedures for material creation above market.
- Create an internal communication plan for the deployment of initiatives or materials.
- Gain insights into local operational models and customer needs by attending congresses and engaging in local customer-facing activities.

Affiliates Engagement:
- Lead the International Therapeutic Area Forums (ITAF) to articulate brand strategy, disseminate tactical outputs, and gather market and competitive insights as well as affiliate needs within iCoE.
- Facilitate the exchange of best practices and shared knowledge to coach and support affiliates, ensuring operational efficiencies across the organization.

Execution Excellence:
- Drive execution excellence to support the SMA brand strategy and messaging.
- Coach junior marketers and product managers to maintain international consistency in branding and messaging throughout above-market initiatives and deliverables.
- Create the marketing tactical plan, leading through the Integrated Commercial Planning (ICP) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) processes during annual planning.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's/Advanced Degree required.
- 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry; rare disease expertise preferred.
- Experience with global/regional commercial launches and business operations.
- Proven expertise in developing cross-functional brand plans that support positioning, competitive messaging, and tactic development.
- Strong analytical and leadership skills with a creative, problem-solving mindset.
- Previous sales experience or roles with significant customer interaction are highly valued; experience in pipeline or commercial development is a plus.
- Ability to rapidly identify key priorities, align strategic and tactical plans, and effectively collaborate with and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Strong planning, organizing, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
