Experimental Animal Center Job Opportunity
We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our team starting on April 1st, 2026, or by appointment, for a 1-year position, with the possibility of extension.
Areas of Responsibility
- Managing the infrastructure and equipment of the animal facilities to comply with internal, national, and international guidelines.
- Maintaining inventory, equipment, facility setup, and records related to operations while ensuring proper functioning of facility equipment and coordinating repair and maintenance with key contacts.
- Providing appropriate technical training, supervision, and evaluation for staff, leading a team of 10 individuals.
- Ensuring that adequate supplies of expendable resources are consistently available to support barrier husbandry operations and facility maintenance.
- Assisting with quality assurance methods to monitor hygiene standards in the animal facilities, including water quality and sterilization processes.
- Developing and revising standard operating procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with facility managers and ensuring adherence to quality assurance guidelines and protocols.
- Providing central support for the further development of the procurement system.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biology, a related field, or a university degree in a technical profession related to the healthcare industry.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in animal husbandry facilities, veterinary medicine, or human medicine.
- Experience with procurement is an advantage.
- Initiative, strong communication skills, resilience, and a service-oriented leadership style.
- Willingness to collaborate with various stakeholders and foster innovation.
- Proficiency in English and/or German; additional language skills are a plus.
