Summary
At Novartis, we are dedicated to nurturing a diverse pool of versatile, commercially focused, and inspiring talent. In our pursuit of proactive thought leadership, we emphasize sharing our enterprise strategies while addressing the distinct needs of each country as a value-added, solution-oriented partner. Join the International HEOR & PCO Team, a critical partner in International Value & Access, as we excel in evidence generation to showcase the value of our innovative medicine portfolio.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior HTA Statistician. In this role, you will apply innovative statistical methodologies to tackle complex challenges in health technology assessment (HTA). You will lead the evidence synthesis of patient data from clinical, observational, and real-world data studies that support HTA submissions, all within a flexible and collaborative environment.
This position entails leading the design and execution of evidence synthesis for HTA submissions, including the EU HTA JCA Dossier and health economic models. You will apply your methodological and analytical expertise to predict the value of Novartis assets and develop strategies to effectively demonstrate this to external decision-makers.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop core global Indirect Treatment Comparison (ITC) plans for HTA, payer, and other Access stakeholder assessments, submissions, and negotiations, leading related publications to meet business objectives.
- Provide strategic, methodological, and analytical support to regions and key countries, adapting the Indirect Treatment Comparison (ITC) for local HTA submissions and supporting local HTA strategies. Coordinate data requirements across various evidence generation functions (Clinical Development, Medical Affairs/Biostatistics, and HEOR & PCO) to support pricing and reimbursement efforts.
- Set up internal systems to proactively capture key HTA analytic requirements across international markets to inform and optimize key deliverables, such as statistical analysis plans. Track key HTA statistical priorities and sequence them according to resource availability and risk factors.
- Identify the need for preliminary ITCs to inform value propositions, development, pricing, and commercial strategies.
- Lead and facilitate the sharing of best practices and insights across regions, countries, and cross-functional partners.
- Stay abreast of innovative techniques, utilizing robust analytical methods leveraging available clinical data and published information to guide pricing and market access strategies.
- Collaborate with the MA Biostats team for trial analyses, HTA challenges, and statistical investigations.
- Act as a Strategic Partner for key stakeholders from HEOR & PCO and International Value & Access (Therapeutic Area Access, Pricing) to ensure alignment with brand, commercial access, and evidence strategies. Ensure optimal utilization of comparative evidence through partnerships with teams generating payer and promotional materials, regulatory dossiers, and publications.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to junior members of evidence modeling teams and across functions.
Essential Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in statistics, with relevant experience in HTA and clinical research.
- MSc/PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or life-science consultancy is preferred.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in consultancy or the pharmaceutical industry in Evidence Synthesis, Health Economics, Health Technology Assessment, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of clinical drug development and HTA-related regulations and processes.
- Local HTA experience, including involvement in country HTA submissions.
