Grants Finance and Compliance Manager / Grants Finance and Compliance Manageress

Plan International Schweiz - May 25, 2025

Join Our Team at Plan International

Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization dedicated to advancing children's rights and gender equality. With a presence in over 80 countries, we collaborate with children, young people, supporters, and partners to address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and discrimination. Our mission ensures that girls can learn, lead, make decisions, and thrive. Quality program implementation, including effective financial grants management and compliance, is vital to our ambition of driving positive impact for girls.

Your Role

You will be an integral part of a growing team of 20 passionate individuals within the programs department. Your focus will be to ensure strong financial oversight and compliance with donor requirements within our grants portfolio while enhancing our financial grants management processes and systems.

Specifically, you will:

  • Support the implementation of a Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response regional project across Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia, acting as the financial liaison to in-country teams and the Project Lead.
  • Provide financial controlling and compliance support for additional Plan International Switzerland projects, ensuring the consistent application of financial standards and donor requirements throughout the organization’s project portfolio.
  • Update and maintain our internal financial grants management tracking tools in collaboration with the organization-wide SAP system.
  • Participate in exchanges and coordination platforms with the broader Plan International federation concerning financial grants management and compliance.

As our organization expands, there may be opportunities to extend this role to include direct project management of two to three grants. Experience in project management would be a valuable asset in that context.

Your Profile

You are a proactive team player who works independently and thrives in a dynamic, international environment. With a solid understanding of the non-profit sector, you bring at least 3 years of experience in financial management, compliance, and reporting, preferably within a development organization and on SDC-funded projects.

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree is an advantage) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience managing financial reporting and compliance for multi-country projects that involve local in-country partners.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets and financial transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Capability to adapt financial systems to diverse cultural and organizational contexts.
  • International work experience.
  • Familiarity or experience working with grassroots organizations.
  • Project management skills.

A valid Swiss work permit is required, along with a presence at our Zurich office for a minimum of 2-3 days per week. Some international travel is also required.
