Position Overview

As the Director of Apparel and Accessories Merchandising, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our products are strategically aligned with the right channels, tiers, and accounts, delivered to the appropriate stores at optimal timing and pricing. Your mission is to enhance our brand vision while maximizing sales and profitability. You will oversee the assortment across apparel and accessories, in conjunction with footwear, by implementing our global brand strategy. This involves gaining insights through collaboration with our Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) and regional sales teams, and providing valuable feedback and analysis to shape our future offerings.

This role is both challenging and independent, with a primary objective of embedding effective merchandising practices within the culture of On.

Your Mission

  • Define and execute global merchandising strategies for Apparel and Accessories across all channels, including DTC and Wholesale, aligning with our growth targets.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of global merchandisers, promoting a culture of consumer obsession, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop global channel assortments that encompass core assortments and commercial product pushes, focusing on price points, tiers, and target consumers.
  • Enhance store and online effectiveness by planning optimal monthly product flows, taking product seasonality, carry-overs, and newness into account.
  • Manage merchandise financial planning in collaboration with Planning and Finance teams, driving SKU efficiency and optimized inventory management for category growth.
  • Oversee collection pricing architecture, optimizing full-price sales through competitor mapping and price adjustments with our pricing team.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Creative teams to ensure cohesive seasonal storytelling across all consumer touchpoints.
  • Work with Visual Merchandising to implement successful product assortment strategies for DTC and wholesale, creating inspiring and commercially viable solutions.
  • Partner with Footwear merchandising to deliver a cohesive head-to-toe consumer experience, aligning assortments and seasonal narratives across categories.
  • Engage closely with Regional Merchandising and Product Strategy teams to influence upstream product creation, ensuring the commercial voice is effectively represented in the global product line architecture.

Your Story

  • 10+ years of merchandising experience with a strong focus on premium sports and/or fashion/luxury segments.
  • Minimum 5+ years in apparel merchandising across international regions such as EMEA, North America, and Asia-Pacific.
  • Deep knowledge of the apparel industry, including key accounts and consumer profiles.
  • A higher education degree in business, economics, or a related field.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the global sportswear landscape, with the ability to challenge conventions and maintain a consistent vision across product, marketing, and merchandising.
  • A proven track record of achieving business results in roles related to Merchandising, Retail, Product Management, and Business Analytics.
  • An experienced people manager capable of inspiring the merchandising team to support On’s footwear vision.
  • Adept in developing distribution strategies on a global scale while keeping regional consumers and sales teams in focus.
  • A strong understanding of Visual Merchandising, with a discerning eye for creating inspiring assortments.
  • Demonstrated experience in independently executing strategic plans and creating global strategies at regional levels.
  • Ability to analyze and understand retail math and KPIs across multiple channels (e.g., owned retail, wholesale, and ecommerce).
  • Solid leadership experience with the ability to drive innovative concepts into the organization, accompanied by strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Business fluency in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
