Job Title: Data & Business Intelligence Technician

Reporting to: Director of Technology and Digital Strategy

Job Purpose

The Data & Business Intelligence Technician plays a pivotal technical role in executing the Aiglon 2025–2027 IT Roadmap. This position is crucial for unlocking the school’s data to enhance decision-making, automation, and overall efficiency. The hands-on nature of this role involves developing integrations, building interactive dashboards, managing APIs, and facilitating access to real-time data. This role ensures that data emerges as a secure, valuable, and accessible asset across academic, operational, and support functions, directly contributing to student success, resource planning, and strategic decision-making.

General Objectives

  • Collaborate with the Cloud Technician to connect and integrate core school systems, creating a unified data environment.
  • Design and implement real-time dashboards that promote data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop automation tools and scripts to reduce manual tasks and enhance efficiency.
  • Support the secure and ethical use of data and AI technologies.
  • Provide technical assistance and training in the use of business intelligence tools across all areas of the school.

Key Responsibilities

Data Infrastructure & Integration

  • Build and maintain ETL pipelines across systems such as iSAMS, iFinance, and Roger HR.
  • Collaborate with the Cloud Technician to develop and manage secure API connections that support cross-platform automation.
  • Structure and clean data for analytics and reporting purposes.

Business Intelligence & Dashboards

  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards using Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI and/or Looker Studio.
  • Work closely with various departments to define data needs and visualize key performance metrics.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity in all reporting outputs.

Automation & Scripting

  • Write and maintain scripts (e.g., Python, SQL, and other relevant programming languages) to automate workflows and repetitive tasks.
  • Implement scheduled jobs and alerting for critical data processes.
  • Support smart building integrations through scripting and automation.

Data Governance & Security

  • Assist in implementing data privacy, retention, and governance policies.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and alignment with ISO 27001 practices.
  • Support audit processes and maintain data documentation.

Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Provide support for BI tools and data-related inquiries across departments.
  • Train staff on dashboard utilization and promote data literacy as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with the broader IT team to ensure alignment on system infrastructure and support priorities.
  • Document processes and maintain internal knowledge bases for data systems.

Other Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality in all work.
  • Undertake any tasks reasonably required by the Director of Technology to support the department and strategic initiatives.
  • Engage in relevant professional development to stay current with industry tools and trends.
  • Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those related to the safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Uphold the School’s Guiding Principles and ethos at all times.
