Chemicals Management & Lab Workflow Lead (m/f/d)
Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, hosting significant research and development functions. We are seeking a Chemicals Management & Lab Workflow Lead (m/f/d) for our esteemed client, Roche Diagnostics International AG in Rotkreuz.
Background
The PCR Assay Development team is dedicated to developing molecular diagnostic and screening tests utilizing PCR technology in the fields of infectious diseases, genomics, and oncology—from early feasibility studies to commercial launch. Key responsibilities include:
- Prototyping and optimizing assay designs to meet product requirements and ensure manufacturability
- Developing test methods and acceptance criteria
- Transferring reagent manufacturing instructions, test methods, and workflows to Operations
- Designing and executing verification and validation activities such as guard-band studies, stability studies, and technical performance verification studies
- Documenting analytical performance for product labeling and regulatory submission packages
Throughout the product development phases, the Assay Development team collaborates with various departments, including Research, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Business, to anticipate and fulfill the needs of patients.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Ordering chemicals and drugs for PCR Assay Development
- Managing chemical inventory
- Ensuring chemical safety
- Overseeing chemical storage and waste management (including expired materials)
- Providing chemical training, such as spill response training
- Maintaining a chemical storage concept in Assay Development
- Collaborating with stakeholders to design, test, and enhance digital chemical inventory solutions while ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Working with cross-departmental teams including Development Project Teams and external stakeholders (e.g., Site SHE, RnD Services, Site Logistics)
- Leading a small chemical support team (2-3 members), contributing to hiring, onboarding, and professional development
- Supporting audits
- Identifying and implementing improvements in lab workflows within biosafety level 2 laboratories as Lab Workflow Lead
Must Haves
- Graduation as a Biomedical Analyst Scientist (BMA HF), apprenticeship as a Lab Technician (Biology, Medical Diagnostics, Chemistry), or a Bachelor/Master degree in Life Sciences/Pharmaceutical science with practical lab experience (no PhD graduates)
- Minimum of 2 years of lab experience
- Experience in a biological lab environment with infectious sample handling at Biosafety Level 2
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in chemical safety
- Basic leadership experience (1+ years, ideally supervising a team of 2-3 employees)
- Open-minded team player with a proactive and organized approach
- Flexible and strategic thinker capable of independent work
- Excellent documentation skills
Nice to Haves
- Experience in a GMP/GLP/GCP environment
- Proficiency in IT/Software applications such as SAP, Signals eLN, Monday, Excel, and others
- Experience in audit processes
