Job Opportunity: Biospecimen Associate (m/f/d)

Roche Diagnostics, a global leader in in-vitro diagnostics, is seeking a motivated team player for the role of Biospecimen Associate at our Rotkreuz (ZG) campus. The dedicated Biospecimen Acquisition & Management (BAM) team at Roche Diagnostics International (RDI) leads the acquisition and management of biological materials and clinical samples, designed to facilitate and advance local R&D activities.

The BAM team collaborates with various Life Cycle Teams, Projects, and Functional Areas to ensure that customer requirements for biological materials are met via formal established processes, communicated periodically and comply with Good Laboratory Practices, Good Clinical Data Management Practices, Quality, and Business standards.

The biospecimen specialist will manage end-to-end biorepository activities to fulfill our customer's specimen requests within Roche Diagnostic Solutions (RDS). This position is located at the RDI campus in Rotkreuz, Switzerland.

Your Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and perform biological material supply, receipt, registration, shipment, returns, verification activities, retrievals, inventory searches, and identify and resolve discrepancies in a validated environment to meet stakeholder and/or business needs.
  • Collaborate with relevant permitting agencies, import/export compliance, and local Safety and Biorepository Teams to ensure compliance with permit requirements.
  • Maintain information in a validated laboratory information management system compliant with GxP principles and standards.
  • Assume responsibility for accuracy, quality, and timeliness of work within supported projects and respond appropriately to changing priorities.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science.
  • Experience in handling biological specimens and a willingness to work with potentially infectious biological material (Biosafety level 2).
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Google Suite.
  • English proficiency at the B2 level; German is a plus.
  • Able to lift 30lbs, work in cold environments with limited daylight, stand for long periods, and climb ladders.
  • Self-motivated and solution-driven individual who maintains quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Ability to follow standard procedures and a strong understanding of biospecimen traceability concepts.
  • Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects.
  • Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management.
  • Team player, self-organized, and motivated individual with meticulous attention to detail.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in biospecimen acquisition, biobanking, clinical trial management, and interfacing with stakeholders or project management.
  • Experience in research, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, CRO, or medical device industries.
  • Experience in the use of LIMS or other validated systems.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to diagnostics.
  • German language skills.
