About the Role

In support of our continued growth, Lonza is seeking Bioprocess Engineers with a relevant background in Life Sciences and a passion for Biotechnology to join our talent community in Visp, Switzerland. Become part of this exciting opportunity to join our team as a Bioprocess Engineer within our Mammalian Business Division, specializing in either Upstream Processing or Downstream Processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that operational activities for clinical and/or commercial manufacturing are performed on time and meet designated safety and quality standards.
• Act as the functional lead for preparation, manufacturing execution, cleaning, and changeover in the assigned area.
• Lead one or more defined USP areas (e.g., seed train, main cultivation, or harvest) for the production of therapeutic proteins using either mammalian or microbial expression systems (Bioprocess Engineer USP).
• Oversee one or more defined DSP areas (e.g., capture, polishing, or filling) for the purification of therapeutic proteins derived from mammalian sources (Bioprocess Engineer DSP).

Key Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related Life Science subject; or a Bachelor’s degree with experience in pharmaceutical production.
• Knowledge of either USP (such as bioreactors) or DSP units (such as chromatography).
• A couple of years of working experience in biomanufacturing.
• GMP experience and understanding of bioprocess technology.
• Excellent communication skills in English; good German skills are advantageous.
