Position Overview
We are seeking an Associate to the Directors, who will work directly with the Executive Director and Co-Director of the ETH AI Center. This role involves supporting strategic, operational, and scientific initiatives across the Center, providing a unique opportunity to gain insight into one of Europe's foremost AI research centers.
This position serves as an exceptional launchpad for outstanding individuals, typically for a duration of 1-2 years. It offers comprehensive exposure to the AI research landscape, innovation ecosystems, academic-industry collaboration, and science policy. Associates will engage in hands-on experiences in science strategy, research management, and institutional leadership—ideal preparation for roles in academia, industry, or entrepreneurship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in establishing new initiatives and projects from ideation to funding, actively monitoring project milestones, reporting, finances, and deliverables.
- Create compelling presentations, collaboration agreements, and necessary documentation to support project initiatives.
- Manage Swiss National AI Institute governance meetings in collaboration with EPFL counterparts.
- Work with teams to develop and enhance processes, such as OKR (Objectives and Key Results) reviews, to improve efficiency and performance.
- Collaborate directly with the Directors and the ETH AI Center executive team on key strategic initiatives, offering valuable insights and support.
- Handle administrative tasks, including managing inbound requests and scheduling for the Directors and the Center as necessary.
- Support the core leadership team with outstanding initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building trust and collaborating across disciplines to guide teams toward shared objectives.
- Adept at capturing and structuring discussions and decisions through clear meeting minutes and follow-up actions.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven mindset.
- Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong curiosity and desire for learning, consistently seeking new ideas and opportunities in artificial intelligence and related fields.
Requirements
- A bachelor's or master's degree.
- Prior experience in a similar role within project management, consulting, academia, or in a tech/startup environment is highly advantageous.
- A demonstrated passion for artificial intelligence research and a keen interest in driving innovation in the field.
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to think critically and strategically.
