This position is based in our office in Zurich, Switzerland.

Your New Role

As the Associate Global Medical Affairs Director, you will play a pivotal role in the Rare Disease Medical Affairs team, focusing on scientific and educational initiatives that support rare haematological and renal disorders, particularly those with an immunological component. You will be reporting directly to the Global Medical Director for Rare Endocrine & Haemato-Renal Disorders in Rare Disease Medical Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide input to the global medical affairs strategy for pipeline assets related to rare haematological and renal disorders impacted by the complement system, implementing defined tactical projects.
  • Act as a strategic partner, offering expert medical leadership to guide development, submission, and launch planning for assets, ensuring medical input across product development, regulatory, pharmacoeconomic, marketing, and safety.
  • Develop educational materials and offer guidance to key affiliates, collaborating with the medical excellence team in scientific dialogue and launch preparation activities.
  • Contribute to the update of the Therapy Area Evidence Strategy, executing relevant projects within evidence generation.
  • Represent the company in interactions with external scientific leaders, study centres, patient advocacy groups, and health authorities as needed.

This is an office-based position, with international travel of approximately 10% per year expected.

Your Skills & Qualifications

We seek motivated professionals who are passionate about improving patient lives. Candidates should possess a Medical Doctor, PhD, or PharmD degree, along with experience in immunology, rare bleeding, or rare renal disorders. Additionally, candidates should have:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in the clinical/pharmaceutical industry, including experience in global or regional medical affairs, launch experience, and a strong commercial and business understanding.
  • The ability to convey scientific and medical insights credibly in communications with external KOLs and societies.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in cross-functional, international teams within a matrix organization.
  • Strategic and tactical thinking capacity related to how innovation can enhance patient diagnosis and management, coupled with robust project management skills that facilitate independent project completion within set budgets and timelines.
  • A proactive nature, allowing you to anticipate opportunities and challenges, with the initiative to address them effectively.
  • Experience in complement-mediated disorders is considered an advantage.
