Artwork Creation Manager

Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, hosting critical research and development functions. We are seeking an Artwork Creation Manager for our long-term client, F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, located in Basel.

Background:

The Artwork Creation Manager will be responsible for implementing textual and graphic elements and proofreading Printed Packaging Material (PPM) during the PDF creation process for selected packaging materials to meet global requirements. This role adheres to the Artwork creation process while complying with GMP requirements, technical specifications, and the Roche Packaging Style Guide, ensuring timely delivery of the Artwork.

The Artwork Creation Manager will also prepare and support external service providers and serve as a key link between external and internal functions concerning technical requirements. The Artworks Management group operates within the Product & Supply Chain Management (PTS) department, specifically the Product Configuration & Execution Center of Excellence.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Create PDFs for printed packaging materials (PPM) based on received manuscripts or annotated predecessor PDFs and technical drawings, by editing existing PDFs including folding boxes, foils, labels, and leaflets.
  • Develop new PDFs for product launches and line extensions.
  • Create and edit graphical templates and die cuts.
  • Establish and maintain tables and graphic standards for preparing print templates.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Configuration Manager (PCM) to ensure on-time delivery, proactively addressing risks of delay.
  • Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for external artwork service providers and internal stakeholders for support related to PDF creation.
  • Manage file uploads into the PDF Library.
  • Create, maintain, and document text macros in the Text Database, or scripts in Chili, as applicable.
  • Finalize goods for printing and supply printing data to print suppliers.
  • Complete defined checklists in accordance with GMP standards.
  • Archive relevant task data (GMP/non-GMP).
  • Maintain internal country specifications and graphic documentation.
  • Assist in complaint management by editing Unplanned Events in the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant GMP regulations, Roche Style Guide, country-specific requirements, and technical packaging site requirements.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the proofreading process, ensuring quality requirements are met for printed packaging materials.
  • Monitor defined standards and control texts and proofs.

Must Haves:

  • Degree in Design, Graphic Arts, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe, Photoshop, or common verification tools.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Artwork, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • High agility to learn new systems.
  • Demonstrated application of Roche Core Competencies, PT Behaviors, and Roche's operating principles.
  • Proven ability to apply Lean principles and demonstrate servant leadership.
  • Capability to thrive in ambiguous and complex situations while maintaining a broad perspective.
  • Proficient in driving improvements and minimizing waste (Lean).
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of making informed risks in compliance with regulations.
  • Timely decision-making ability, accounting for input analysis and sound judgment.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation abilities.
  • Experience in a GxP environment.
  • Fluent or highly proficient in spoken and written English and German.
